Winter Weather Advisory now In Effect From 2 PM This Afternoon
To noon EST Saturday...
the winter weather advisory for hazardous travel conditions is
now in effect from 2 PM this afternoon to noon EST saturday.
* timing: snow will develop over north-central kentucky including
the bluegrass region by mid-afternoon. the snow is expected to
continue until after midnight tonight.
* main impact: accumulations will initially be limited to grassy
surfaces, but as surface temperatures fall below freezing this
evening, snow will begin to accumulate on roadways. snowfall
amounts will likely average 1 to 2 inches.
* other impacts: the combination of the anticipated snowfall
along with temperatures falling into the 20S tonight will
lead to hazardous driving conditions across the area. if you
have travel plans tonight, allow yourself plenty of
time to reach your destination.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while
driving.
stay tuned to NOAA all hazards weather radio and your local media
for the latest updates on this winter weather situation.
